The superiority of Japanese automakers as compared to their competitors has been demonstrated time and again by the quality of their goods. The Japanese automobile industry continually focuses on providing excellent customer service. Japan's automakers have earned a worldwide reputation for producing reliable, high-quality, safe, and fuel-efficient motor vehicles. The nation's new car market and its market for pre-owned automobiles are quite well-known internationally.
The market for used automobiles in Japan is growing far faster than the market for brand-new automobiles, and it has been doing so for some time. Virtually every country in the world purchases used automobiles from Japan.
The small island nation of Seychelles, located in the Indian Ocean to the northeast of Madagascar, is known for importing used Japanese automobiles. Because of technological advancements, bringing a vehicle from Japan into the United States is not a difficult process.
If the importer obeys the regulations, everything should go smoothly with the import process. A car must be driven on the right side of the road and be no more than three years old to be imported into Seychelles.
The importation of used automobiles into the country by either returning citizens or students is authorized. A person is considered a returning resident if they are a citizen of Seychelles but have been a permanent resident of another nation for at least two years and have now moved back to Seychelles intending to establish permanent residence there.
Before a returning resident can legally import a used vehicle, they must fulfill all of the prerequisites outlined in the Used Vehicle Policy that the Ministry of Finance administers.
- Only passenger cars are permitted, and once an individual has been granted permission to import a vehicle or motorcycle, they will not be permitted to import another used vehicle or motorcycle if they later decide to relocate to a different country.
- The car must be brought into the country within six months, beginning when the returning graduate or resident first establishes residency there.
- The returning resident or graduate is not permitted to sell or transfer the car to another party within two years following the vehicle's registration with the Seychelles License Authority. This restriction applies to both sales and transfers (SLA).
